the snake killer

our mild mannered oscar did his shipboard rat-hunting westie ancestors proud today. i caught him digging in the flowerbed under our deck yesterday and this morning when eleanor and i were doing weed patrol, i found this throttled garter snake among the bee balm. i probably could have gotten a better shot, but didn't want to spend too much time focusing on mr. snake (not that a small part of me worried that he was faking and would hurl his scaly body in my face when i least suspected or anything...). there was collateral damage to some marigolds, but in all, the mess was minimal. i hope that this episode was adequate warning to the mole who's been digging in the yard--he'll snap your neck like a toothpick!
some lovely violas to make up for the dead snake pic. a few-days-old- photo--note the bunch of little friends hanging out in her overalls pocket--playmobil nun ("nunny"), fisher price old school little person ("lady"), and playmobil pirate ship crew member ("this guy"). the green car from the fisher price parking garage (lady's car) is in the side pocket. peter rabbit and baby dee (aka baby deek or baby deeky) are also in tow.
reading little fur family (yes, the book is actually covered in fur! thanks, aunt betsy!) to curious george. note yesterday's story lady sticker stuck to the bottom of her sock.
